engineer to artisan

Meet Laura Novak-Roesgen

I’m Laura—jewelry artist, metalsmith, and the hands behind Novaura Jewelry.

After a career in engineering, I found myself drawn back to a quiet childhood passion—making jewelry by hand. What began as a creative outlet became something more: a way to blend my love of precision with my desire for meaningful design.

Today, in my Southern California studio, I create each piece with care, blending engineering skill with artistic soul. I work in sterling silver, turquoise, and natural gemstones—each chosen for its strength, energy, and natural beauty.

My designs are for women who are stepping into their next chapter. Women who honor where they’ve been, but are always reaching for what’s next.

Meaning Behind the Name

Novaura comes from nova (new) and aura (energy)—a name that represents creative transformation and inner radiance.

It honors my birth name, Novak, and marks a new beginning rooted in family, resilience, and legacy.

It’s not just a brand—it’s a continuation of the entrepreneurial spirit my family passed down.

INSPIRATION

California Dreams, Coastal Elegance

Living in Southern California infuses my creative process with a sense of coastal inspiration.

The serene shorelines, golden sunsets, and natural beauty find their way into every piece I create — a harmony of relaxed coastal chic and polished sophistication.

Turquoise has become my signature stone, its vibrant blues and greens echoing the colors of the Pacific waters.

I'm drawn to how this stone perfectly captures both Novaura's aesthetic and the timeless beauty of the California coast I call home.

Quality & Artistry

I design each piece as an artisan and as an engineer.

  • Engineering Precision: For strength, comfort, and enduring beauty.
  • Quality Materials: Each gemstone is ethically sourced and hand-selected.
  • Artisan Excellence: small-batch production ensures every detail meets the highest standards.
  • Pieces with Purpose: These are not trends. They’re treasures. Created to be worn and loved for years.

This reflects my commitment to creating jewelry that looks beautiful today and becomes more meaningful with time.

Story of Resilience

I grew up immersed in my family’s business, Novak Electronics. I learned the power of relationships, service, and legacy from my parents, Bob and Joan—and from my sister Linda, with whom I shared so much of this journey.

When the business closed, and Linda was later diagnosed with stage-4 cancer, life shifted. In the quiet of that change, I returned to my childhood joy: making jewelry.

It began as therapy. It became a calling.

With the encouragement of my husband, my children, and the memory of Linda’s fierce love, I followed that spark and built something new.

Novaura Jewelry is my late-in-life reinvention, and proof that it's never too late to pursue a passion.
